Each week I want to give a fashion salute to a character or characters (living or animated) for their outstanding achievements in fashion. This week I want to salute a group of characters that often get overlooked. They are sweet, loyal, and hard-working. This week's fashion salute goes to the mice and the birds from Cinderella. With their amazing talent they transform Cinderella's dress in order to make her "more beautiful than all." To quote my favorite fashion expert, Tim Gunn, these creatures "make it work," using a rejected sash and a broken necklace to make sure that their Cinderelly goes to the ball in style. In order to execute their task, Jaq and Gus take on Lucifer, which deserves a medal all on its own. The creatures are meticulous in their measurements and engineer an amazing system to create a fabulous gown despite their tiny size.
Those nasty stepsisters destroy the beautiful dress that Cinderella's animal friends made for her, and it's not the dress that Cinderella is famous for. However, it was a masterpiece and the mice and birds deserve to be credited. Delightful creatures, hats off to you!
